Construire un pont à travers l’océan Atlantique.
If you’re looking for instructions on how to build a REAL bridge across the Atlantic Ocean, please return to your search bar and search again.
Meanwhile – Dans ma tête.
Can you imagine a bridge –
Can you imagine if there was a bridge across the Atlantic Ocean?
I imagine cross winds from hell and rest stops modeled after the ONroute system in Canada.
I imagine sections, which run under the water. Tunnels with segments of transparent walls taking whale watching to a whole nother level. Passengers marveling at the sight of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge which separates Eurasia and North American.
With tunnel vision, I imagine this bridge. I also imagine how small it would make the already small world — with warring nations and people fighting to control this bridge.
But what if? What if there was a bridge, to carry us from North America to Europe.
Putting aside the logistics of food, fuel, and waste, just imagine if there was a bridge that would carry us home. Home to where many of us feel called.
What if there was just a bridge, used to cross the Atlantic Ocean from New York to England, Ireland, Scotland or France…
Engineering the bridge –
For 12,664 days of my 19,479 days, I’ve rounded this round with you. Only 6,815 rounds before did I round without you.
I love numbers. I love simple numbers. I love to use numbers to compare. whether it be lengths, pace, distance, weight etc. I just love the way numbers measure, define, relay, explain, forecast, predict etc.
New York is 5,703 miles from La Rochelle, France. Newfoundland is 4,192 miles from La Rochelle. And 3,496 miles is the distance between Newfoundland and Scotland.
China’s Danyang–Kunshan Grand bridge built in 2010 is 540,000 feet long or 102.27 miles.
It would take 40.98 Danyang-Kunshan Grand bridges to span the distance from Newfoundland to La Rochelle.
Interestingly only 2,701 miles separate Newfoundland from the coast of Ireland, the route most notably known for it’s connection with the Transatlantic telegraph cable.
We would ONLY NEED 26.41 Danyang-Kunshan Grand bridges to make our way from Newfoundland to Ireland. So, what are “they” waiting for.
For more information on crossing the Atlantic Ocean, find a comfy chair and warm drink and check out the information available via the net on the Transatlantic tunnel concept.
Backup plans –
In the interim, until “they” build the bridge, I’ve come up with a list of alternative ocean crossing options for you to ponder (ponder / pond):
- Trebuchet
- Ice skates
- Teleportation
- Paddle board
- Stargate
Dans ma tête –
Dans ma tête, I imagine this bridge.
I envision swanky high speed trains with sleeping and dining cars. Dans ma tête, these trains as well as the entire system resemble the Tran-Siberian Railway, which currently spans 5,772 miles. Disclaimer, I’ve never been near the Tran-Siberian Railway, and only know it from the movies. But would be happy to win an all expense paid trip to ride these rails.
Crossing the massive ocean in style, and with speed – tossing in a little intrigue, romance and mystery as well.
Dans ma tête, I dream. It helps to quench the thirst I have to travel and experience. As I plan my next trip via the all too common invention we know as the airplane, I wonder at said invention and the amazing “bridge” it provides.
Merci beaucoup Orville and Wilbur.

Mais pour l’instant –
But for now, I wait. And although I wait, I wait not – but embrace and except the days as they are. For the beauty in which each one holds. For the adventures found in the common and simple. Never forgetting this life is just a stop. A mere moment in what shall be forever.
Simply living in the glorious season blessed to have been given – not coveting the last or the next.
Dans ma tête, je mange du fromage et je bois du vin rouge tous les jours.
Avec humour et amour je vous laisse.
Merci à mon mari, l’artiste.
